16 August 2012

The overall pass rate for Jersey’s A-level results is 99.5%, which is on a par with last year. This year a total of 501 Jersey students were entered for 1,477 examinations.

In line with national figures, the number of A* and A grades achieved is down slightly on 2011.

Jersey’s overall results include students who took the International Baccalaureate. Their scores have been converted into A-level points and the corresponding grades are included in the table below:

A*  A
Jersey 2012  10.0%  20.7%  29.0%  24.2%  12.1%  3.6%  0.5%
England 2012  8.0%  18.5%  25.9%  24.0%  15.1%  6.5%  2.0%
Jersey 2011  12.1%  23.5%  28.7%  21.4%  10.0%  3.7%  0.5%

Head of Careers Andy Gibbs said "This is another strong set of results for our young people and leaves them well placed to take their next steps, whether that is to university or into the workplace.

"It’s important that students contact their universities as soon as possible to confirm places. Anyone who did not achieve the grades they were expecting can contact the careers teacher at their school or college, or Careers Jersey, which is open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5pm."

Education, Sport and Culture Minister, Deputy Patrick Ryan, said "I would like to congratulate the students who have worked hard for the past two years to achieve these A-level results. Today’s grades are also a testament to the work put in by both teachers and especially families to support our young people and help them towards success."
