Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle survey 2017 is launched today

18 May 2017

The States of Jersey Statistics Unit launches the 2017 Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey (JOLS).

The survey runs every year to provide important information to help government plan and deliver policy and public services.

This year the survey seeks to gather opinions on a range of topics including organ donation, the cost of health services in Jersey and how well households are coping financially. Information on the general health of islanders, our recycling habits, and attitudes towards breastfeeding will also be collected.

Over the next few days around 3,300 randomly selected households will receive a letter through the post inviting them to take part. The responses will be confidential and used to produce grouped numbers for the report, which will be published at the end of 2017.

Commenting on the survey Dr Duncan Gibaut, Chief Statistician for Jersey, said: “The annual survey is an invaluable source of information on islander’s opinions and lifestyles. We have provided an option for households to respond online, and I’d like to encourage everyone who receives a letter to take part.

“I would like to reassure everyone that all responses to the survey will be treated in the strictest confidence and will only be used to produce grouped numbers. By taking part you’ll help us all gain a better understanding of islander’s opinions and way of life.”
