New traffic signals on the Esplanade

31 March 2017

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is making safety improvements at the junction of Kensington Place and the Esplanade by installing new traffic signals.

In order to minimise disruption to traffic the work has been scheduled for during the school holidays, starting Monday 3 April and operational on Thursday 6 April. During the works, turning right off the Esplanade will be prevented and access to Kensington Place will be via West Park roundabout only.

The new traffic signals will be combined with the current pedestrian crossing signals at that junction and will control the right turn into Kensington Place.  Once in operation, vehicles turning into Kensington Place must wait for a green signal before turning right across traffic approaching from West Park.
