What to expect

Flowers

Due to allergies, infection control issues and space, we kindly ask that flowers are not brought on to the ward.

Infection control

On admission to the ward, we screen all patients for MRSA. We repeat these screens every Monday. Each bay is cleaned daily with a further intensive decontamination performed once a week.

Meal times

Our mealtimes are:

  • breakfast at 8am
  • hot cooked lunch at 12pm
  • evening meal at 5.30pm

Let us know if you have any special dietary requirements or need assistance with dining.

Mobile phones

You can use mobile phones and other electronic equipment on the ward, as long as they are used respectfully.

We recommend you leave all your valuables at home as we don't accept any responsibility for their loss or damage.

Ward rounds

Multi disciplinary ward rounds are undertaken daily.

What to bring

On admission, please bring some:

  • comfortable walking shoes
  • loose casual clothes and night wear
  • necessary toiletries

After your procedure, we encourage you to wash and dress as independently as possible.

When we discharge you

It’s very important that you arrange to be collected. Early planning for your discharge is important. Whenever possible, we order your medications in advance. We provide you with a medical certificate when you’re discharged.

Contact us

You can contact us from Monday to Sunday. We suggest that one person, nominated by the patient, make enquiries to the ward.  Routine calls should be after 10am. If we’re with patients, we cannot always answer the phone straight away, so try again later.

Patient confidentiality is essential. There are occasions when we're unable to share information. Contact the ward manager if you need to discuss this.
