Review of a planning decision or condition by the Planning Committee

Who can request a review

You can only request a review by the Planning Committee if:

  • you’re the applicant of the original application
  • if your application was refused or you’re unhappy with a condition that has been attached to a permission
  • if your application was decided by officers of the department

If you request a review, you’ll still be able to submit an appeal after the review has been completed.

Cost of a review

There is no charge for requesting a review.

How to submit a review

You need to request a review no later than the end of the period of 28 days beginning with the date of the decision. For example, if a decision is dated 1 January 2018 then an appeal must be received by close of business on 27 January 2018. You can find the date of decision on:

  • the decision notice, or
  • on any notice requiring action

Form to review a planning decision

You must include the reasons why you disagree with the decision. You can’t amend the application or include additional information that wasn’t available when the original decision was made.
We will notify anyone who made comments to the original application that a review request has been submitted.

Determining the review

The Planning Committee will determine the review at a public meeting and will explain the reasons for its final decision. You can attend the meeting and speak to the Committee before it makes its decision.

The decision of the Planning Committee consists of another, subsequent decision which will be issued by the department following the public meeting. We will notify anyone who registers an interest against the application of the decision.
