How the long-term care scheme works

The long-term care scheme provides financial support to Jersey residents who need long-term care for the rest of their life, either at home or in a care home. This means you need significant help with everyday tasks such as getting out of bed and dressing.

The scheme aims to remove any worry you may have about the cost of long-term care. How much financial support you receive depends on what level of help and support you need and what you can afford to pay.

If you cannot pay for your care costs, the scheme can help to cover these costs.

If you can contribute to your care costs, the scheme can support you with care costs, once you have paid for your care costs for a period of time.

Find out what help you can get with your care costs

The amount of financial help, and when you'll receive it, depends on your income, assets and what level of care and support you need.

You can receive financial support in one of three ways, financial route A, B or C, whichever is most appropriate to your financial situation.

Complete our questionnaire to see which financial support route applies to you.
