2011 census results

Jersey's population was 97,857 on 27 March 2011.

Jersey's latest census took place on Sunday 27 March 2011. The total resident population of Jersey was 97,857.

This figure:

  • includes 6,061 residents of Jersey who were absent from the Island on census day
  • excludes 2,052 short-term visitors to the Island who were present on census day

Visual report on the 2011 census

The census report has been published in user-friendly visual format using a series of coloured maps of the Island. It provides a graphical display of a range of characteristics of Jersey residents and housing. 

 

Census map tool

The interactive census map tool allows the user to select census topics to display on coloured maps of the Island.  

The interactive census map tool works best with Microsoft Excel version 2007 or later. The interactive tool contains macros so please make sure that macros are enabled on your computer.
 
 

Census report - by chapter and topic

The census report contains six chapters on various topics. The chapters can be downloaded as separate documents and the topics covered in each chapter are outlined below.

1. Total population

  • parish populations and densities

Chapter 2 covers key demographic information including:

  • working age population and dependency ratio

Chapter 3 covers information on:

  • number of dwellings

  • total number of cars, vans and motorcycles / scooters
  • number of cars per household
  • households without access to a car or van
