Code on the decision to prosecute (Law Officers' Department)

The decision to prosecute (charge) an individual is a serious step. Fair and effective prosecution is essential to the maintenance of law and order. Even in a small case a prosecution has serious implications for all involved - the victim, the witness and the defendant. Centeniers are to apply the code to ensure that they make fair and consistent decisions about prosecutions.

The full code contains important information for people who work in the criminal justice system as well as the general public. The code helps Centeniers to play their part in ensuring justice is achieved.
