Flights cancelled due to bad weather

09 September 2011

Bad weather in and around the Channel Islands continues to cause disruption for passengers at Jersey Airport today (Friday 9 September).

Fog descended on the Island on Thursday afternoon, meaning many flights were cancelled. Many of the passengers affected had to find overnight accommodation.

Jersey Airport worked closely with colleagues from Jersey Tourism, tour operators, airlines and their handling agents late into Thursday evening to help those who needed accommodation. All stranded passengers had found somewhere to stay by the closing of Jersey Airport at 10pm.

The persistent bad weather this morning (Friday 9 September) has also affected a number of flights. Many have been delayed and some cancelled. Airline staff and their ground handlers are helping passengers that have been affected to rebook alternative travel.

Reports from the Met Office say visibility is due to improve and already some flights have managed to leave and arrive.

Should passengers be delayed this evening (Friday 9 September) Jersey Airport will help them find overnight accommodation and are asking any registered accommodation providers with spare availability for this evening to contact either Jersey Airport on 446100 or Jersey Tourism on 448800.

Airline advice to passengers is to check-in as usual unless they have been otherwise advised. Any passengers with concerns or queries should contact their individual airline.

The latest travel updates will be posted on the Jersey Airport website.
