Victoria Avenue lights to be replaced

19 February 2014

Driving restrictions will be in place next week while traffic lights at the junction of Victoria Avenue and La Rue du Galet are replaced.

Work begins at 9am on Monday 24 February and is expected to take three days, depending on weather conditions. During that time:
  • there will be no access to Victoria Avenue from La Rue du Galet
  • westbound traffic along Victoria Avenue will not be able to turn right on to La Rue du Galet
  • eastbound traffic along Victoria Avenue will be able to turn left into La Rue du Galet

The 15-year-old lights will be replaced with equipment that will be more durable and use less electricity. The work, which is being done during the half term holiday while there is less traffic, was due to be done last August but was postponed because of bad weather.

Access to businesses and homes will be maintained, and pedestrians will have temporary signalled crossings across Victoria Avenue.

Transport and Technical Services are apologising for any inconvenience that this essential maintenance work causes.
