Education Welfare Team (EWO)

We offer support to parent(s) / carer(s), children and young people when attendance and punctuality at school becomes problematic.

The team are skilled in supporting all aspects of non-school attendance and will endeavour to ensure that all the required support is in place at the appropriate time.

Each primary school and all secondary schools have an allocated Education Welfare Officer (EWO) and the 11/16 schools have a school based EWO.

If you're worried about your child’s attendance

You can make an appointment to see your head teacher, head of year or class teacher.

Your school will support you in every way they can and this may sometimes involve the school’s Education Welfare Officer (EWO). They will work with you and your school to address concerns about attendance, punctuality and welfare.
