Free early learning for your child

When your child can get free hours

Your child can get free States-funded nursery education in the school year that they turn four years old.

How many free hours you can get

Your child can get up to 20 hours’ free education each week, for 38 weeks, during school term-time only, from the beginning of the school year (September).

Where you can get a place

You can apply for a free place at a States' primary school nursery, or in a NEF-registered nursery in the private or voluntary sector.

Different early learning providers offer different attendance options, like mornings only, school hours or full days. You can find out more on the places that provide free early learning page.

You can find a full list of NEF-registered nurseries on the Jersey Child Care Trust website.

How to apply for a place

Contact a nursery or school directly to register your interest.

You can register for a place at a States' primary school nursery and keep your name on this list while you look at all options. You should tell us if you no longer want a place at a States primary school.
