About La Passerelle
We are a small, short-stay, nurturing support team for secondary school age young people in Key Stages 3 and 4. We support students who feel unable to attend school because of high levels of anxiety.
Most of our students internalise their anxiety, find it difficult to attend and engage in life at their current school. Even though they really would like to be there.
La Passerelle supports students
returning to their school by:
- enhancing their personal wellbeing
- getting back on track
- improving their attendance
- continuing their learning
We always maintain links with the student’s school and have a variety of professional partners that help us develop support packages. Our key aim is to provide the student with the tools needed to return to their school and access education.
How we support young people with anxiety
We offer a small, caring learning environment and provide opportunities for therapeutic support such as mindfulness and exercise. We can help up to 9 students in the morning and 9 students in the afternoon. Capacity fluctuates based on the needs of the students attending the sessions.
Our curriculum focuses on:
- core academic subjects supplied by the host school
- social and therapeutic skills offered by an in-house team and professional partners
The curriculum is delivered through small group work and 1 to 1 sessions based on personalised plans, with a nurture group philosophy and holistic focus.
Our approach supports the student, family, and school. As we know that progress is made when everyone around the student feels supported.
