The duties of a Health and Safety Project Coordinator (HSPC)

The Health and Safety Inspectorate (HSI) would like to remind all Health and Safety Project Coordinators (HSPC) of their duties under Regulation 8 of the Health and Safety (Management in Construction) (Jersey) Regulations 2016

HSI will be undertaking site inspections targeted at the following specific Regulation 8 duties:  

  • 8 (c) to coordinate the health and safety aspects of design work and cooperate with other persons who are part of the project 
  • 8 (d) to facilitate good communication between client, designers and contractors
  • 8 (f) to identify, collect, pass on to any information gathered at the pre-construction phase of the project that is relevant to the construction phase 

This initiative will be based on existing HSPC project notifications and will take place over the summer months. The intention is to hold an invitational HSPC meeting to discuss the initiative findings in early autumn.
