I am interested in knowing the terms of the agreement between the state's and the tenants of the marsh, who own the land which the goose green car park is situated;
Whether charging for parking by the state's is part of the agreement; and
Also whether motor traffic laws apply.
The contract regarding the acquisition of land by the Public of the Island from the tenants, upon which the Goose Green Car Park is now situated, was passed 11 June 1965.
Details relating to the contract are exempt under Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 as the information is available for you to view at the Public Registry.
The Public Registry is available at Judicial Greffe, Royal Court House, Royal Square, St. Helier, JE1 1JG or at Jersey Archive, Clarence Road, St Helier, JE2 4JY. The Public Registry can be searched by anybody for free or public registry staff can perform searches for a fee. Details of office hours and any fees may be found on the www.gov.je site at the following link:
Public Registry services, fees and Stamp Duty
We have reviewed the contractual covenants from when the land was acquired and there are no specific references to parking charges however there is nothing to prevent charges being levied.
Motor Traffic Laws are enforceable within this car park.
