Request

My question concerns the staffing levels and cost of the civil service. I would like comparisons please in 2017 and 2020 (in which case the most current numbers should apply) in all instances.

Could you please tell me:

A

How many people were / are employed in the civil service in both years?

B

What are numbers of people in each Tier of the civil service for both years?

C

What was / is the total salary cost per annum? (In the case of 2020 please round up to the equivalent of a full year)

Separately, can you please tell me?

D

How many people in grades CS11 and above were appointed in the HCS department in the last two years?

E

How many people in any grade have been appointed in the Communications unit in the last two years?

F

How many people of Director and above level have we employed in the last three years in all departments?

Tiers were introduced in 2018 as part of the One Gov operating model and so a direct comparison is not held in recorded form. To answer the request, the data would need to be extracted from various sources and manipulated, aside from taking more than the prescribed 12.5 hours to do that work, the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 does not require a Scheduled Public Authority to manipulate data to provide a response.

Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has therefore been applied.
