I request details of which specific individuals were ultimately responsible for granting permission for the Lions dinner to take place at the RJH&S Trinity Showground on the 15 June 2021.

Jersey Sport Limited hosted a dinner on 15 June 2021 that was granted permission by the Bailiff’s Public Entertainment Panel.

The event followed guidance for private events (please see link below).

The Bailiff's Public Entertainment Panel considered the event plans with input from Public Health. Details of the panel are provided in the first link below. The event used the best practice checklist (please see second link below) for event suppliers as well as the gatherings and events guidance (please see third link below) that were specifically included within their risk assessment.

The guidance provided in the above links on gov.je have been based on reviews of the available evidence of mitigating the risks of COVID-19 transmission in hospitality, events and food and drink services sector by the public health policy team. The guidance has also been informed by engagement, discussion and feedback from the Safer Jersey team inclusive of Environmental Health colleagues, business partners as well as key stakeholders from the hospitality and events sector. Final guidance is reviewed and signed off for publication through the Deputy Medical Officer for Health. When following this guidance businesses will have provided effective risk assessment, planning and implementation for a well-managed and controlled event to reduce COVID-19 transmission risk as far as possible. In contrast the hosting of informal private events can be a higher transmission risk where there is no guarantee of mitigations being in place.
