​​Visitor volume and value

Between 2015 and 2016, the number of staying leisure visitors increased by 3% to 356,000. 

Total on-Island visitor expenditure in 2016 was £228 million. This is an average of £330 per visitor.

In 2016, there were 10,594 persons accommodated in total, of which 77% (7,637 persons) were accommodated in hotels. Around one in ten persons were accommodated in self-catering accommodation.

A growing number of hotels in Jersey are participating in the STR benchmarking survey which provides information on the performance and productivity of Jersey hotels.

In 2016 (for participating hotels):

  • average room occupancy was 67%

  • average daily room rate was £106

  • revenue per available room was £71, an increase of 10% on the previous year
