​​Visitor volume and value

Between 2016 and 2017, the total number of visits increased by 5% to 726,800. 

Total on-Island visitor expenditure in 2017 was £250 million. This is an average of £344 per visitor.

The average length of stay was 4.7 nights in 2017.

In 2017, there were 10,608 persons accommodated in total, of which 72% (7,651 persons) were accommodated in hotels. Around one in ten persons were accommodated in self-catering accommodation.

A growing number of hotels in Jersey are participating in the STR benchmarking survey which provides information on the performance and productivity of Jersey hotels.

In 2017 (for participating hotels):

  • average room occupancy was 66% (unchanged from previous year)

  • average daily room rate was £112, an increase of 6% on the previous year

  • revenue per available room was £74, an increase of 6% on the previous year
