Average earnings questionnaire

About the survey

The Jersey average earnings survey has been running for more than 20 years. Each year around 400 businesses are selected to take part in the survey to provide information on salaries paid to staff.

The information is used to produce the Index of Average Earnings which measures annual changes in earnings (gross wages and salaries, excluding bonuses) paid to workers. It is an important economic indicator and is used to uprate pensions and social security benefits.

Average earnings survey results

You can find the latest results and download the report on the Earnings and income statistics page. You can also search for past reports in our Statistics Jersey reports and documents section.

More information on income

The Index of Average Earnings measures income from employment only. More detailed information about total household income can be found from the Jersey Household Income Distribution report 2014 / 15 which will be updated next year.
