Safe use of fork lift trucks in the workplace (ACoP 6)

This approved code of practice (ACoP) is relevant to all workplaces where rider-operated lift trucks are used.​

The ACoP contains details of the arrangements which should be in place to ensure the safe operation of rider-operated lift trucks in the workplace and areas covered include:

  • design of the workplace
  • selection and maintenance of equipment
  • training of operators.
  • responsibilities of operators
  • vehicle operation
