GST increases to 5% from 1 June

31 May 2011

Businesses in Jersey are being reminded that the standard rate of GST will go up to 5% tomorrow (Wednesday 1 June 2011).

The States Assembly approved the increase in GST from 3% to 5% in the 2011 Budget debate.

As a result, shops and businesses will need to change their accounting systems to accurately calculate the GST charged on goods and services. Where necessary they will also need to ensure their pricing is in line with Price Marking Regulations which are governed by Trading Standards.
