Polish Ambassador welcomes Honorary Consul

08 May 2012

Ms Magdalena Chmielewska will be appointed as Jersey’s Honorary Polish Consul during the morning of 11 May at the Royal Court, after which she will accompany the Ambassador to meet Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, and Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache.

Senator Gorst commented: “I am pleased to welcome the Ambassador back to the Island and to congratulate Ms Chmielewska on her appointment as Honorary Polish Consul. With a community of more than 3,000 Polish people now resident in the Island, it is important that we have our own consular representative. I look forward to maintaining a positive dialogue with Ms Chmielewska and I wish her the best in her new role.”

The Ambassador will be accompanied on her visit to Jersey by the Polish Consul General in London, Mr Ireneusz Truskowski, and Chief of the Consular Section, Mr Michal Mazurek.
