Royal visit update

​The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will visit Jersey on 18 July 2012. The programme for their visit is set out below.

Visit programme

Grainville School (11.55am-1.10pm)

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will visit Grainville School, where they will open the new building, meet students and teachers, and visit student activities involving the Army Cadet Force and Horizon Programme. The Prince of Wales, as President of The Prince's Trust, will also meet members of the Jersey Prince's Trust. Their Royal Highnesses will tour the building viewing some of the children’s artwork on the way. They will watch the Army Cadet Force students on a traversing wall and in the fitness suite. Grainville’s head teacher, Mr John McGuiness, will make a short speech and their Royal Highnesses will unveil a plaque to commemorate the visit.

Royal Square (1.20pm-TBC)

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will attend a special meeting of the States in the Royal Square and unveil a granite feature in the square to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. In the Royal Court building their Royal Highnesses will also unveil a piece of artwork specially commissioned by the States of Jersey to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee river pageant.

Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society (2.40pm-3.50pm)

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will visit the Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society where they will tour an agricultural and horticultural exhibition including Jersey livestock, and visit a parish community event featuring exhibitors from the Battle of Flowers, local clubs and associations and community welfare groups. They will also meet voluntary representatives from past winners of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and will unveil a plaque to commemorate their visit.

16 New Street (4.20pm-4.50pm)

The Prince of Wales, Patron of The National Trust for Jersey, will visit the Trust's newly restored property at 16 New Street.

Town Church (4.55pm-5.15pm)

The Prince of Wales will visit the Town Church, where he will view the restoration work that has been carried out on the church. His Royal Highness will also be shown the new stained-glass window that has been installed in the 13th-century chapel.
