A-level results announced

15 August 2013

The overall pass rate for Jersey’s A-level results published today is 99.4%, which is on a par with last year (99.5%). This year a total of 474 Jersey students were entered for 1,420 examinations.

Jersey’s overall results include students who took the International Baccalaureate. Their scores have been converted into A-level points and the corresponding grades are included in the table below:

A* A B C D E U
Jersey 2013 10.1% 22.0% 27.0% 22.1% 12.8% 5.3% 0.6%
England 2013 7.7% 18.6% 26.5% 24.2% 14.9% 6.2% 1.9%
Jersey 2012 10.0% 20.7% 29.0% 24.2% 12.1% 3.6% 0.5%

Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, Deputy Patrick Ryan, said “Today’s A-level results are the culmination of two years’ hard work by students and what will have seemed like a long wait over the summer. I congratulate all the young people on their achievements and wish them every success for their future.”

The Department’s Head of Lifelong Learning and Skills, Andy Gibbs, added “The results mark the end of school and the start of the next phase of life for these young people, who will now be preparing for university or work. Whatever their next step, support is available. Students planning to go to university or college should make contact as soon as possible to confirm they have a place."

Once students have a definite offer of a place at university, then if they have applied for a student grant they should complete and return the (HE7) Notification Form to the Student Finance Office with copies of their A-level or BTEC results and a copy of the unconditional offer letter from the institute. This is a very busy time for Student Finance as they attempt to assess and process nearly 1,300 students. Students are therefore asked to only phone if absolutely necessary and, if they do so, be prepared to leave a message which will be picked up at a certain time each day.

Careers advice is also available at schools or at Careers Jersey, which is at the Social Security Department in La Motte Street and opens Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.
