St Aubin improvements meetings

19 July 2013

There will be drop in sessions at St Brelade’s Parish Hall from 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm on 24 and 25 of July, for anyone who would like to meet Parish officials and the team from Transport and Technical Services to discuss proposals for village improvements in St Aubin.

The Minister for TTS, Deputy Kevin Lewis, is working in association with the Connétable of St Brelade, Steve Pallett, to bring forward a plan to improve the road, parking and public areas around St Brelade’s Parish Hall.

A community steering group, set up and chaired by the Connétable, and including representatives from the business and resident communities, will oversee the final stages of the proposals. TTS has done some initial work but is now looking for input from the local community.

Changes to St Aubin have long been a topic of discussion. In particular, it became clear at a weekend-long community gathering some years ago, that residents and businesses were keen for improvements to be made to this beautiful and historic area.

Now that funding has been made available for village improvements, St Aubin will be the first of a number of planned schemes that will be rolled out over the coming years.

The proposed changes will offer opportunities to improve the open public spaces in the immediate vicinity of St Brelade Parish Hall, thus allowing the Parish to consider commissioning, through public subscription, an historically contextual work of art in the area in front of the Parish Hall.

The Connétable said "I am extremely excited at the prospect of working with both TTS and the project team to improve the environment around St Aubin both for those who live and work in the area and for the many visitors to the Island who are charmed by its beauty."
