Treasury Minister to attend meetings in Washington

07 October 2013

The Treasury and Resources Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, will attend the Commonwealth Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Washington this week.

The meeting of Commonwealth finance ministers and senior finance officials will be held at the IMF Headquarters in Washington on Wednesday 9 October. It is held in conjunction with the IMF and World Bank annual meetings, which will continue until 13 October. Throughout the week, Senator Ozouf will attend meetings with delegations from G20 countries, in addition to senior executives from a number of global institutions with branches in Jersey.

Senator Ozouf said “This annual finance event is one of the best attended meetings of the global community of finance ministers, central bank governors and senior finance industry executives. Jersey has an increasingly strong message, in terms of the strength of our public finances and the actions we have taken to remain at the forefront of international cooperation and regulation.

“It is important that our voice is heard on the world stage, as clearly and as often as possible. This series of meetings will be a prime opportunity for me to further engage on Jersey’s behalf with a wide range of ministers and officials from other countries.”
