The States of Jersey Statistics Unit is today (20 June) sending out reminders to any households who have not yet returned their Jersey Annual Social Survey questionnaire.
3,300 randomly selected households were sent a survey form through the post at the end of May.
The Statistics Unit have so far received an excellent response from the public, but would like to encourage households who have not yet returned their survey to do so before the 5 July deadline.
Every household that takes part represents not only themselves but other households like them and all responses are treated in the strictest confidence.
Dr Duncan Gibaut, Chief Statistician for Jersey, said “We’ve had a great response so far, and I’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to complete it. The social survey provides invaluable information to inform government decisions that will affect all Jersey residents.”
The Jersey Annual Social Survey is run independently by the Statistics Unit, on behalf of other States departments. It is designed to find out what Jersey residents think about a wide variety of topics.
This year, Islanders are being asked about:
- living in Jersey
- how they rate their quality of life
- what aspects of life are important to them
They are also being asked about attitudes towards getting involved with government, for example voting in elections and the recent referendum.
The results of the survey are used directly by government in decision-making and in planning and developing public services.
