Consumer advice road shows

17 November 2014

Islanders are being invited to bring their questions about scams, money, debt and consumer issues to a series of drop-in events where experts can help answer their concerns.

The Consumer Road Show events are being run by the Trading Standards Service which has joined forces with the Jersey Consumer Council, Community Savings, Citizens Advice Bureau, the Jersey Financial Services Commission, Joint Financial Crimes Unit / States of Jersey Police and the Energy Efficiency Service to offer free advice and information to Islanders.

Scam mail

The Director of Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards, Trevor Le Roux said that the team were also inviting people to bring along any scam mail that they had received and hand it over to be dumped.

“We know that people have particular concerns about scam mail and the targeting of elderly and vulnerable people by criminals. Our aim is to take that mail, get rid of it and give people sound advice about spotting scams and protecting friends and family who might be at particular risk.

“The experts who will be at the roadshow can also give information and advice on a wide range of issues that might be concerning people, especially in the run up to Christmas, such as budgeting to avoid debt” said Mr Le Roux.

Dates and venues

The consumer roadshow events are open to everyone and will take place at

  • St Bernadette’s, Les Quennevais (opposite Communicare) -  24 November, 10:30 am to 4 pm
  • Trinity Parish Hall -  26 November, 10:30 am to 4 pm
