The Jersey heart team, led by consultant cardiologist Dr Andrew Mitchell, have been shortlisted to the finals of the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Awards.
The BMJ Awards are the UK’s premier medical awards, recognising and celebrating the inspirational work done by doctors and their teams.
In 2016 there have been over 300 entries across a variety of medical and academic specialities with around 60 entries shortlisted for the finals, which will be held in May at a gala event in London.
The Jersey team have made the final four teams in the Cardiology Team of the Year category and are up against leading UK hospitals for the award. As well as Dr Mitchell, they are

Dr Mitchell said "It is such a great honour for the Jersey team to have been picked for the finals. We have an amazing, dedicated group of cardiac nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, secretaries and physiologists who work brilliantly together to provide what we think is the best possible level of care for Islanders."
