03 January 2017

Mike King, the Chief Officer for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture has resigned from his position and by mutual agreement is leaving with immediate effect, with pay in lieu of his contractual six-month notice period and his outstanding leave entitlement.

Mr King joined the States as Chief Officer for Economic Development in 2005 and has overseen the development of the department including the creation of Ports of Jersey, Jersey Business, Locate Jersey and Visit Jersey, all set up to stimulate the economy and build strong relations with local business.

During the past two years Mr King managed the transfer of Sport and Culture from Education to create the new Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture department.

Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture Minister Senator Lyndon Farnham said “I would like to thank Mike for all that he has done since joining in 2005 and especially for the work he has undertaken in the creation of the new department during my term of office. I wish him well for the future.”
