Esplanade Quarter consultation workshop

21 March 2018

Islanders with an interest in the planning of Jersey’s Esplanade Quarter and wider area are invited to take part in a third community workshop this coming Monday (26 March 2018).

The existing 2008 planning framework for the Esplanade Quarter area is being reviewed.  It follows a recommendation by an independent planning inspector and the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel. The workshops are helping the Department of the Environment’s planners develop an interim south west St Helier planning framework.

Vision for south west St Helier

The third workshop will build on progress made by planners, politicians, community members and stakeholders since last November. Attendees will learn about the main outcomes and recommendations from previous workshop sessions on ‘Re-imaging the Esplanade Quarter’, and discuss the south west St Helier planning framework now being developed. This will set the vision and strategy for the Waterfront, the ports, the Esplanade and nearby areas of town.

Design Council, an impartial, independent design body which is supporting the Department of the Environment’s work to create an integrated, distinctive and sustainable planning framework, will lead the workshop.

Event details

'South West St Helier: putting thoughts in action' takes place on Monday 26 March 2018 11 am to 3 pm (light lunch provided) at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Rue de L'Etau, St Helier, JE2 3WF.

To attend or to nominate a representative to attend, please email a.coates@gov.je.

Until a new Esplanade Quarter Master Plan is agreed, planning applications that are submitted for further development on the St Helier Waterfront are being assessed on the basis of the policies that currently exist.
