New contact number for mother of abandoned baby

A new contact phone number has been made available for the mother of the baby boy who was left at Jersey General Hospital on Sunday 18 March. Children’s Services remains hopeful that the mother will make contact with the Hospital’s Maternity Unit, so that she can receive the help that she needs. The direct line for the Maternity Unit is (01534) 442456 and is available 24-hours-a-day; alternatively, Island GP surgeries have offered to provide support and it has been confirmed that there would be no charge in this case.

A spokesperson for Children’s Services said “We remain very concerned about the mother and still hope that she will come forward, so we’re able to check that she’s in good physical health, and also offer emotional support.”
