Treasury Minister welcomes independent economic report

07 October 2019

FPP

Jersey’s Treasury Minister, Deputy Susie Pinel, has welcomed the publication of the Fiscal Policy Panel’s (FPP) 2019 Annual Report.

The Panel’s report is based on their assessment of the draft Government Plan 2020-23. Their advice is intended to inform the States Assembly debate on 26 November and to support the Government of Jersey in maintaining strong public finances.

Deputy Pinel said: “I am grateful to the Fiscal Policy Panel for their clear and detailed advice, which they presented to States Members today. The Panel has expressed its support for the broad direction of our draft Government Plan, and the fiscally prudent approach taken by the Council of Ministers.

“There are also recommendations for how we might do things differently and I will work with ministerial colleagues to address these recommendations.

“This is our first Government Plan, and it represents a step-change in the way that Jersey’s Government plans its finances and sets its priorities. The Plan is vital to ensuring that we meet our ambition for the Island’s future.”
