New non-executive director for Andium Homes

04 November 2019

Jason Laity

The Government has appointed an independent non-executive director to the Board of Andium Homes.

The Assistant Minister for Treasury and Resources has appointed Jason Laity as an independent (non-executive) director with immediate effect.

Educated in Jersey, Mr Laity chaired the local branch of the Institute of Directors between 2011 and 2014. Until September 2019 he was the Senior Partner and Chairman of KPMG Channel Islands, and he has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales since 1994.

His appointment follows a Board Effectiveness Review undertaken by independent consultants at the end of 2018, which recommended the appointment, as soon as possible, of a non-executive qualified accountant with recent or current professional financial experience.

Having considered this recommendation, alongside the skills gap on the Board created by recent departures, Mr Laity has been appointed for up to 12 months. While this term of office will not be automatically extended, Mr Laity is free to apply for a longer-term role on the Board through the standard recruitment process.

The Jersey Appointments Commission have been consulted about the appointment of Mr Laity.

This appointment follows the appointment of Sir Mark Boleat as interim Chair of the Board. Sir Mark is leading the process to recruit a permanent Chair and other independent directors, to ensure good governance in the Government-owned company.

Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, said: “I am pleased that Jason Laity is joining Sir Mark on the Board of Andium. He is well-respected, with significant leadership experience at board and partner level in the financial services industry. He will also bring experience of leading reviews of risk, regulation, process improvement, and due-diligence. His expertise will help Andium to maintain its focus on bringing forward a supply of good quality, affordable homes for Islanders.”
