Online Planning Committee meeting to be held this Friday

17 June 2020

The next Planning Committee meeting taking place on Friday, 19 June will be the third to be held virtually and open to the public.

Members of the public will be able to join the meeting and take part via the online platform Teams from 2:30pm.

The agenda, and information on how to join and participate are available on the agendas and minutes from public planning meetings page on gov.je.

Planning Committee Chairman, Deputy Russell Labey, said: “This will be our third planning determinations hearing online, from being the first Government of the Commonwealth to convene a virtual sitting of its entire parliament to all the committee meetings, scrutiny hearings, policy development board work, parish deputies meetings and more, its thanks to a huge effort and energy from those working in technical support that we have been able to continue the business of government in this way throughout the Covid-19 crisis.

“For those with planning applications it has meant that we have been able to bring some certainty sooner than was expected at the start of the pandemic.

“Do we experience the odd technical hitch? Of course, we do but members of the public, applicants, architects and agents have all been very patient and understanding and we thank them.

“Some applications attract too great a volume of responses for us to feel comfortable in forgoing the physical hearings at St Paul’s. We’re sorry for that but the Planning Committee is super sensitive about giving everyone, for and against, the opportunity to have their say.”
