Your chance to Ask the Ministers

16 September 2021

Islanders are being encouraged to quiz their political leaders next Tuesday, from 7pm to 8.30pm, during the first ‘Ask the Ministers’ event since the States Assembly returned from summer recess.

The panel session is being held on the same day that the Government Plan 2022-25 is being lodged, giving Islanders the chance to ask Ministers early questions about the proposals.

The panel will consist of:

  • Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré;
  • Minister for Children and Education, Deputy Scott Wickenden;
  • Minister for Environment, Deputy John Young; and
  • Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture, Deputy Hugh Raymond.

The event is the fourth in a series of sessions hosted by an independent moderator and streamed on the Government’s social media channels. This session will be hosted by journalist Tom Innes of the Jersey Evening Post.

Islanders can watch the event using the Government of Jersey Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels, and submit their questions during the live session by visiting slido.com and using the event code: #AskTheMinisters.

Alternatively, Islanders who wish to be a member of the audience at the Government’s studio in The Parade can email asktheministers@gov.je.

The Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, said: “The Ask The Ministers panel sessions are an important channel that allow members of the public to ask us directly about what is most important to them – in person or through Slido. We’ve seen significant numbers of viewers in our last three sessions, and I hope we will receive questions from a broad spectrum of our community on Tuesday 21 September.”

Future session dates are planned for:

  • Tuesday 2nd November 2021
  • Tuesday 14th December 2021
  • Tuesday 25th January 2022
  • Tuesday 8th March 2022
