Disability inclusion campaign launched to encourage inclusivity across the Island

29 November 2022

Following the ‘Embrace our difference’ event held on Friday 4 November 2022 at the Jersey Town Library, the Government are continuing to drive their Disability Inclusion Strategy through a campaign to raise awareness and visibility in relation to inclusion.

The campaign is encouraging Islanders to think about how they can create inclusivity and consider the positive impacts this can make, through the campaign strap line “Embrace it, Share it, Celebrate it”, led by Liz Johnson, Gold medal winning Paralympian swimmer.

The campaign will be communicated through a number of channels with the aim to change perceptions and encourage Islanders to take action. The Jersey Government Disability Team web page has also been updated to give Islanders key resources and access to insightful information. Islanders will also be encouraged through social media to share what they are doing to be more inclusive, with the aim of generating conversations and sharing ideas with others.

Assistant Minister for Social Security, Deputy Malcolm Ferey said. “The Embrace our Difference event was a fantastic opportunity to have so many organisations, who are proactive and focussed on supporting disabled Islanders, all in one place. It was great to see everyone together and show how we can all make a difference and are responsible for using our voice to make a positive change.

“It is important that we continue to be visible and keep awareness of this important topic at the forefront of everyone’s minds, so it becomes the norm. This campaign will reinforce this and show us all how we can be more inclusive, as well as providing valuable resources on the Jersey Government Disability Team webpage to help.”
