About the survey

The Finance and Legal Sector Survey (previously the Survey of Financial Institutions) has been run by Statistics Jersey since 1995. The findings are vital to understand and track the economic performance of the various sectors that make up Jersey's economy.

Gross value added (GVA) and gross domestic product (GDP) are the main measures of Jersey’s economy, in terms of its size and real-term performance:

  • GVA measures the economic activity taking place in Jersey overall and at the individual sector level
  • GDP is the traditional aggregate measure of an economy which requires specific treatment for services indirectly charged by financial services institutions (FISIM)

The survey is run independently by Statistics Jersey. All information gathered is confidential.
