During 2021 we’re issuing the following commemorative coins:
50th anniversary of decimalisation
A one-off coin design issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the decimalisation of Britain’s coinage which occurred on the 15 February 1971.

150th Anniversary of the Rugby Football Union (RFU)
The RFU was founded in 1871, making 2021 its milestone 150th anniversary.

HRH Queen Elizabeth II 95th birthday
A one-off coin design to celebrate HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s 95th Birthday.

A one-off coin design featuring a stylised ‘95’ surrounded by the four official flowers representing England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with the addition of 95 precious stones representing the Queen’s 95th Birthday.

In office from April 1721 to February 1742, Walpole is also the longest-serving British Prime Minister in history.

Ernest Shackleton: 100th anniversary of his final expedition
A collection of 3 x £2 coins.
2021 marks the 100th anniversary of Ernest Shackleton’s final polar exploration expedition setting sail in 1921. Each £2 coin will celebrate one of three polar expeditions Shackleton led:
- Nimrod Expedition (1907 to 1909)
- Trans-Antarctic Expedition aboard the HMS Endurance (1914 to 1917)
- Shackleton-Rowett Expedition (1921 to 1922)
