Vehicle removal operators

​​​You need to use a registered vehicle removal operator to move or remove a vehicle parked illegal on your land. Otherwise you could be fined up to £10,000.

When you need to register

You must register as a vehicle removal operator if you: 

• remove vehicles from private lands
  
• move vehicles on private land (from one area to another)
  
• safely store vehicles removed from private land
  

You do not need to be registered if:

• you're removing vehicles and have been given consent from the vehicle owner
• the land is administered by any public or parish authority

How to register

As a motor vehicle removal operator, you need to have:

• a vehicle that can be used for the safe removal of another vehicle from private land
• a secure location where vehicles removed from private lands can be stored
• insurance that covers against any loss or damage to a vehicle that you're responsible for the removal or custody of
