Guidance on controlling legionella bacteria in water systems

08 September 2015

We are contacted several times a year by people who want to clarify the legal requirements in relation to the control of legionella in water systems and the practical steps which should be taken to manage the risk.

A guidance note has been produced to help those who are responsible for water systems in workplaces and those with responsibilities for the control of premises, such as landlords.

This guidance note has been updated following the revision of the 'Approved Code of Practice, 'Legionnaires' disease: The control of legionella bacteria in water systems' by the UK's Health and Safety Executive.

Further information is also available from the UK Health and Safety Executive.
