Emergency information for La Collette residents

28 October 2013

Residents around La Collette will be given information about what to do in the event of a major incident at the industrial site.
People living within 1000 metres of La Collette will shortly receive a four-page leaflet which gives guidance on what to do when the emergency evacuation signal is sounded continuously

It follows feedback from an evacuation exercise carried out in April and a request for more information about what to do in an emergency after the alarm sounded in March.

Emergency Planning Officer Mike Long said "In the very unlikely event of a major emergency at La Collette, the emergency services and major site operators have tried and tested plans for responding to and managing the situation.

“But after the alarm was activated earlier this year and our exercise in April, we thought it would be useful to give people who live and work in this area, and indeed anyone else that wants it, more information so they are confident they know what to do if the alarm sounded.”
