About the Taskforce In 2022, the Minister for Justice and Home Affairs established an independent Taskforce to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Jersey.
Members of the Taskforce include a range of key stakeholders across:
public services specialist support services education community support The Taskforce undertook research with victim-survivors, children and young people, professional services, and the general public in Jersey. The aim is to get a better understanding of the problem on the Island.

VAWG Taskforce Report The Taskforce Report was published in November 2023. The report is the outcome of the research undertaken to better understand the nature, extent, and experiences of VAWG in Jersey. It provides recommendations for government and other key stakeholders to reduce such violence in all its forms and to improve the support available for victim-survivors.

Response from Government The Taskforce’s Report made 77 recommendations, 58 of which were for the Government of Jersey.
The Government has published an initial response which outlines how each recommendation will be taken forward.
The response has been developed by the Minister for Justice and Home Affairs in consultation with other Ministers.

Media toolkit The media plays an important role in shaping cultural attitudes around violence against women and girls.
In recognition of this, the Taskforce has developed a dedicated media toolkit to support media professionals in Jersey to report responsibly on VAWG issues.
