​​​​​Sector-specific training courses

Skills Jersey works with local businesses and different business sectors to provide or design training to upskill employees.

We can fund up to 75% of the training cost so you only need to pay the remaining.

These courses are provided to help employees with entitled or entitled for work residential status.

Digital Jersey courses

Courses that are linked to the subsidised skills training programme will be advertised as ‘Supported by the Government of Jersey – Skills Jersey’.

​Level 3 Award in electric and hybrid vehicle system repair and replacement

These 2-day courses are accredited by the Institute of the Motoring Industry and will be delivered in Jersey by Highlands College.

​To apply you’ll need to have an existing IMI Level 2 Motor Vehicle qualification, or equivalent, and be currently employed in the car industry.

Skills Jersey are paying 75% of the training cost.

How your personal data will be used

We’ll use your data to book your place on our courses and to give delegate lists to our training providers.

After getting your consent, we may get in touch with you to ask for feedback on our courses.

You must have the consent of any delegates before inputting their information to book a course on their behalf.

We use Eventbrite for course promotion and bookings. Eventbrite is a third-party service and we don’t own or manage it. You can read Eventbrite’s terms and conditions and privacy policy for more information.

Apply for funding for skills shortages in your sector

You can apply for funding if you want to offer training in an industry to close skills gap or shortages.

To request funding you must be an:

  • industry body
  • organisation working with or representing many businesses
  • individual business showing benefit in the training or initiative for other businesses in your sector

Your training offer must be open to all businesses in your sector. You can also use funding towards a project.

We don’t give funding for basic mandatory training such as food hygiene, manual handling or safeguarding training.

Applying for funding

Your application must show that:

  • a skills shortage exists in this area
  • the training will upskill current entitled or entitled for work staff, or attract more to work in the industry
  • the training provider is the most cost effective or value for money

You’ll need to provide a breakdown of cost for:

  • the trainer. You’ll have to upload 3 quotes from training providers and tell us the provider you prefer and why
  • venue and equipment hire
  • accreditation
  • travel and accommodation​

You’ll have to provide details on how you’ll evidence the performance of the training and your review measures.

If you want support with marketing or administration costs, you’ll need to provide details for each item.

The funding review panel will assess your application and will be in touch.
