Island Outcome Indicators

What are Island Outcome Indicators

The Island Outcome Indicators (IOIs) are long-term measures that show how Jersey is progressing towards its Sustainable Wellbeing goals.

Sustainable wellbeing is complex and covers many aspects of life. It cannot be delivered by 1 person or 1 organisation. It's a shared responsibility and needs all of us to work together. The Island Outcome Indicators helps us see how we can make Jersey a great place to live for us and future generations.

Island Outcome Indicators form half of the Jersey Performance Framework. The other half of the Jersey Performance Framework are the Service Performance Measures (SPMs). These are short-term indicators showing how Jersey’s government is currently performing.

Development of the Island Outcome Indicators

The long-term vision for Jersey was produced by the 2017 Future Jersey consultation and is captured by the vision statement:

"An Island loved for its beautiful coast and countryside, rich heritage, diverse wildlife and clean air, land and water. An Island where a sense of community really matters - a safe place to grow up and enjoy life. An Island that offers everyone the opportunity to contribute to, and share in, the success of a strong, sustainable economy."

Future Jersey 2017 to 2037

Future Jersey produced the 3 pillars and 10 outcomes that form the basis of the Island Outcome Indicators.

Island Outcome Indicator Data

The Island Outcome Indicator Data allow us to see how Jersey is progressing. It's made up of different storyboards which bring together data from a range of sources. Each storyboard focuses on a specific topic that tells us about the quality of life in Jersey and is structured in the following way.

Island Outcome

A condition of wellbeing for Jersey, all Islanders or target groups. For example, we'll feel safe and secure at home, work and in public.

Indicators

These quantify Jersey's progress towards an outcome. For example, crime rate or road traffic collision (RTC) rates.

You can access the Island Outcome Indicators and see the data for how Jersey is doing by selecting any of the individual storyboards in the table below. This will allow you to explore the data in more detail.
