Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals in London

​About Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals​

There are three hospitals:

  • Guy's hospital
  • St Thomas' hospital
  • Evelina children's hospital

Getting to Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals

You can get to the hospitals in the following ways: 

Guy's hospital​​

You can:

  1. fly to London City airport
  2. take the Docklands railway to Canning Town (three stops)
  3. take the tube on the Jubilee line to London Bridge (five stops)
  4. exit the tube which will take you directly to Guy's hospital 

Or, you can:​​

  1. ​​​fly to Gatwick airport
  2. take the Thameslink train to London Bridge (approximately 30 minutes)
  3. exit the tube which will take you direct to Guy's hospital 

St Thomas' and Evelina children's hospital​

You can:

  1. fly to London City airport
  2. take the Docklands railway to Canning Town (three stops)
  3. take the underground on the Jubilee line to Waterloo (seven stops)
  4. exit the underground and walk to the hospital (approximately eight minutes)

Or, you can:​​

  1. fly to Gatwick airport
  2. take the Gatwick Express to Victoria rail station (approximately 30 minutes)
  3. take the underground on the Circle or District line to Westminster 
  4. exit the underground and ​walk across Westminster Bridge to the hospital 

Arriving at Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals​

Your appointment letter will state the date, time and which hospital you need to go to. 

There are large maps at all the buildings' entrances, directions in the lift lobbies, and colour coded building wings. ​

​​When you get to your​ department or ward, the nurse or ward clerk will explain what will happen next. 

Your care​​​

Your consultant and a qualified nurse will be responsible for your care. 

Guy's and St Thomas' are teaching hospitals, so medical students will be with your consultant. 

The hospital will keep your nominated contact person ​informed with how you're doing. 

​Leaving the hospital​​

If you have booked your travel through the Travel Office, the hospital will contact us and arrange your travel home. 

If you have booked travel on your own, you will need to make your own arrangements to get back to Jersey. 

If you're transferred straight back to Jersey hospital, the consultant will let us know and we'll make travel arrangements. 

Interpreters​​

If you need an interpreter or a signer, tell the ward clerk when you arrive​.
