UCL hospitals in London

​​​About UCL hospitals​​​

There are four hospitals:

  • University College hospital (UCH)
  • National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
  • Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital
  • Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine

UCL hospitals are teaching hospitals and medical research units.

Getting to UCL​ hospitals​​

You can travel various ways to UCLH via different airports. 

University College Hospital (UCH)​

You can:

  1. ​fly to London City airport
  2. take the Docklands railway to Bank 
  3. take the underground on the Northern line to Euston
  4. exit underground and walk to the hospital (approximately six minutes)

Or, you can:​

  1. ​​fly to Gatwick airport
  2. take the Gatwick Express to Victoria station 
  3. take the underground on the Victoria line to Warren Street
  4. exit underground and walk to the hospital (approximately four minutes)

National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery / Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine​

You can:

  1. fly to London City airport
  2. take the Docklands railway to Bank
  3. take the underground on the Central line to Holborn
  4. exit underground and walk to the hospital (approximately eight minutes)

Or, you can:​

  1. fly to Gatwick airport
  2. take the Gatwick Express to Victoria station 
  3. take the underground on the Victoria line to Green Park 
  4. transfer to Piccadilly line and go to Russell Square
  5. ​exit underground and walk to hospital (approximately six minutes)

Royal National Throat, Nose and​ Ear Hospital​

You can:

  1. ​​fly to London City airport
  2. take the Docklands railway to Bank 
  3. take the underground on the Northern line to Kings Cross St Pancras
  4. exit underground and walk to the hospital (approximately six minutes) 

Or, you can:

  1. ​fly to Gatwick airport 
  2. take the Brighton and Bedford train to London St Pancras 
  3. exit station and walk to hospital (approximately 13 minutes)

Arriving at the hospitals​​​

For directions to the ward or surgical reception, you should​ speak to the enquiry desk located at the entrance to each building. 

​If you're having surgery, you must check in at the surgical reception first. 

When you reach the ward, the nurse or ward clerk will explain what will happen. 

Senior staff will explain the treatment you're having and will ask you to read and sign a consent form. 

Your care​​​

Your consultant will be responsible for your care, and a named qualified nurse will be responsible for your nursing care. 

The hospital will keep a nominated point of contact ​informed with how you're doing. 

​Leaving the hospital​​

If you have booked your travel through the Travel Office, the hospital will contact us and arrange your travel home. 

If you have booked travel on your own, you will need to make your own arrangements to get back to Jersey. 

If you're transferred straight back to Jersey hospital, the consultant will let us know and we'll make travel arrangements.
