Pig registration, identification and movement
If you keep pigs (including those kept as pets or those intended for the abattoir), you are required to register as a keeper. Your keeper application will be processed by the Jersey Cattle Movement Service (JCMS) who will also issue holding numbers, issue registers and obtain ear tags. A fee may be charged by the JCMS for registration. A copy of all of your data details will be held by the Department of the Environment.

Identification of animals
Animals should be identified with ear tags and slapmarks. The JCMS will be able to order ear tags and slapmark equipment for you if needed, although this will be at additional cost.
Ensure that pigs are correctly identified before they are moved off your holding.
