GCSE results published

22 August 2013

GCSE results published today show Jersey students have performed well compared to their counterparts in England. The all-Island pass rate for GCSE grades A* to C is up by 1.8% this year to 76.6% from 74.8% in 2012.  This compares with the national pass rate of 67.9%, which is down on the previous year.
This year a total of 1,059 students sat GCSE exams in the Island. The figures include GCSE exams taken at non-States schools. A small number of results have yet to be received. Further details of Jersey students' results are available online.
Director of Education, Mario Lundy, said “Today, hundreds of our young people are finding out the results of two years’ hard work. They can be rightly proud of their achievements. I would like also like to thank their parents and the staff at our secondary schools for supporting students through these important exams.”
Education, Sport and Culture Minister, Deputy Patrick Ryan, added “I am delighted with today’s results and wish these students well, whether they are going on to do A-levels, other courses or are looking for employment in the Island.”
Once appeals and re-marks have been completed, individual secondary schools will publish adjusted results by 4 November. These more accurate figures will be posted by each school on their own website and will include relevant contextual information. Links will be available from the States website.
Careers Jersey have issued exam advice for young people who received their results today. Advice is available from school careers teachers, Careers Jersey in La Motte Street (Social Security building) or from the Advance To Work team.
