​Two job matches held next week

Employers from two industries are being invited to register to attend tailored events where they can meet potential staff who are ready to start work immediately.

On Monday 16 March 2015, the Hospitality Job Match is a chance for employers to interview prospective staff ahead of the coming season. The jobseekers are all locally-qualified candidates and are either eligible for paid training in hospitality, or have worked in the industry before and are able to bring their skills to the job from the start.

On Thursday 19 March 2015, the first job match for gardening and groundskeeping employers takes place, timed to coincide with the annual springtime surge of recruitment in the sector. It will give businesses the chance to meet jobseekers who have just completed two weeks’ training in gardening as well as those with more general experience.

Matching jobseekers and employers 

The Minister for Social Security, Deputy Susie Pinel, said “This is a great opportunity for us to match jobseekers who want to work in hospitality or horticulture with employers who are looking for staff.

"From the job match events that we held last year, we know that it’s a successful formula. Employers find it useful to speed-interview potential employees, and it gives jobseekers a focus which can improve their interview skills and lead to jobs.

“No matter how many staff they are looking for, Back to Work’s job match events are the best chance for an employer to meet a range of selected candidates, conduct initial interviews, and make their recruitment process quicker and easier.”

Hospitality Job Match

The Hospitality Job Match is part of Back to Work’s hospitality programme under which employers can claim up to eight weeks' wages for every jobseeker who’s employed in a trainee role. Under the programme, the salary of every candidate who has no hospitality experience is paid for eight weeks, up to a maximum of £2,293.58 per candidate (based on minimum wage plus the employer’s social security contributions for between 25 and 40 hours per week).

Gardening and Groundskeeping Job Match

The Gardening and Groundskeeping Job Match follows a two-week Advance Plus course during which delegates learned skills including health and safety while working; work methods in a garden environment; and gardening in protected environments.
